Music Curriculum at Padiham Green

At Padiham Green, we promote a love for Music as it inspires creativity, self-confidence and a sense of unity. As an unspoken language, music is universal and it unites us with our peers, our school and our community. Music reflects the diversity of our community and society therefore the experience of a range of musical styles provides children with a better understanding of the world we live in.

A unique way of communicating, Music can inspire and motivate children. It gives the opportunity for personal expression and it can play an important part in the development of each child as an individual.

Learning to sing or play a musical instrument requires, concentration, perseverance and the ability to listen. Music requires children to work harmoniously as part of a team which develops relationships and community skills. As these skills develop in Music so will they in all other subjects and children’s self-confidence will flourish in all other subjects. More importantly, the skills discovered and developed through Music will remain with children throughout their future lives and will see them explore opportunities with creativity and self-confidence.

As an art, Music allows children to express themselves in a medium unlike any other. They develop an imagination, a style and rhythm unique to them. At Padiham Green we encourage this exploration and support the children in using Music to express themselves and shape their own world. Music is more than a lesson taught at Padiham Green, it is a staple part of school life and an opportunity and experience woven through the threads of the Padiham Green tapestry.
